MINUTES OF COUNCIL MEETING 

SEPTEMBER 8, 2015

Mayor:  Chase Croft

Council Members: Patty Hutcheson, Donald Rainey, Greg Lane.

Department Head: City Clerk Karen King, Public Works Director Dean Tanner, Police Chief Chad Henderson.

Mayor Croft: called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Croft welcomed everyone.

Mayor Croft leads Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Croft asks for invocation.

Mayor Croft asks to accept the agenda for tonight.  Patty Hutcheson made motion.  Greg Lane seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

Mayor Croft asks to accept the minutes from August 11, 2015 and August 13, 2015 meetings.  Donald Rainey made motion.  Patty Hutcheson seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

Jana Gentry (Library)

Thanks mayor and council for continued support by keeping library in city budget.  Library is continuing children’s story time.  Fair on the square is shaping up and we will be selling BBQ sandwich’s with the fixings in brown bags.  Asks mayor to read proclamation proclaiming October 18-24, 2015 as friends of the library week in Buchanan.  Mayor states he will read proclamation at next regular council meeting.

Iris Baggett (Better Hometown)

Iris states fair on square is September 19th. 

Mayor Croft asks Karen if Camera bids are ready.  Karen states still waiting for some of the bids to come in.

Mayor Croft asks to approve Alliant Health as health care provider for the next year.  Patty Hutcheson made motion.  Donald Rainey seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

Mayor Croft states that employee dental care will be discussed at the work session.

Department Updates:

Public Works Director Dean Tanner:

Dean states CDBG project is finished but still needs to get some cleanup work done hopeful that I will get some bids in on the paving of Carrollton Street and will try to work in Weatherly Street in the paving since it was also in the target area. 

Police Chief Chad Henderson:

Chad states he doesn’t have an update.

City Clerk Karen King:

Karen states that two properties were sold in the property tax sale.

Code Enforcement Nathan Forrister:

Explains to Mayor and Council what he will present to them at work session.

Donnie talks about the fair on the square and invites mayor and council to participate in the parade. 

Patty Hutcheson states keep Haralson Clean will be September 26th

Mayor Croft asks for a motion to adjourn.  Donald Rainey makes motion to adjourn.  Greg Lane seconded motion.  Motion carried 3-0.
