Minutes of Regular Council Meeting

January 10, 2017

 

Mayor: Johnny Pope

Council Members: Stanley Freeland, Patty Hutcheson, AJ Scott, and Greg Lane were present.   

Department Head:  City Clerk Betty Harvell, Public Works Director Jason Robinson, Police Chief Chad Henderson.

Mayor Pope:  Calls the meeting to order.  Asks Patty Hutcheson to lead the invocation, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Johnny Pope.

Mayor Pope:  Asks for a motion to approve the agenda with addition of Jeremy Holman and Louie Buffington.   Patty Hutcheson made a motion to approve the agenda with addition of Jeremy Holman and Louie Buffington.  AJ Scott seconds the vote.  Motion carried with 4-0.

Mayor Pope:  Asks for a motion to approve minutes from December 13, 2016 meeting.  Patty Hutcheson made a motion to approve the minutes from December 13, 2016 meeting.  AJ Scott seconds the vote. Motion carried with 4-0.

Mayor Pope:  Asks for nomination to elect Mayor Pro-Tem.  AJ Scott made a nomination for Stanley Freeland, Patty Hutcheson seconds the nomination for Stanley Freeland.  Nomination carried with 4-0.

Jeremy Holman and Louie Buffington:

Discussed with mayor and council their feelings of being picked on by a police officer.  After discussion with mayor and council they went with Police Chief Chad Henderson to discuss this further.

Jana Gentry (Buchanan Library)

Not present.

Departmental Updates:

Jason Robinson:  Ground breaking for the waste water plant went well, we are under level II drought, working on tree cleanup and town cleanup.

Chad Henderson:  Presented mayor and council with monthly report on arrests and citations before leaving with Jeremy Holman and Louie Buffington to discuss police officer.

Betty Harvell:  Presents mayor and council with copy of Bremen and Buchanan Business License for their consideration of updating the ordinance.  Asks mayor and council if they have any questions on budget standing.

Donny Boswell:  Asks mayor to sign MOU renewal.  Stated so far, he has received $19,000 in pledged commitments for parking lot paving.

Adjourn:  AJ Scott made a motion to adjourn.  Patty Hutcheson seconds the motion.  Motion carried 4-0.
